30 Rock, Mr. Mom, Weight Watchers, and A Voyage Long and Strange
May 26, 2008 · 1 Comment
Here I am. Preparing for what I am sure will be an interesting week. Leanne is gone on a week long retreat…and I am all alone with the baby…being Mr. Mom
Mr. Mom

So, I’ve never been the sole provider before. I’m pretty sure I can handle it…I hope. The great thing is, is that Bella is uber easy however, I am still kind of freaked out about being single dad for a week. I’m not sure how to balance the work and baby thing on my own…especially in a week when I am preparing for a sermon ths coming Sunday and a wedding I will be performing. So I might just stay home and forgo the social activities that I would normally partake in and prepare for Sunday…and watch 30 Rock.
30 Rock

I am not a big fan of Alec Baldwin…in fact he kind of annoys me, which has caused me to not even attempt to watch 30 Rock. Well after months of hounding from Tanya I gave in and watched an episode…thanks to HULU I have now watched the entire second season…in 3 days. Seriously, it’s genius! Since Leanne is gone and since I will not be partaking in social activities Tanya is letting me borrow season 1 so I can watch it in the evenings after Bella goes to sleep, but to protect my brain from too much TV I will also be reading my new book…A Voyage Long and Strange.
A Voyage Long and Strange

I do so enjoy a good book…truth be told I’m kind of a book whore…I’ll read just about anything. Between business books, apologetic books, missional Church books, and the Walt Disney Biography I have found some time to brush up on my History Books. My newest is entitled “A Voyage Long and Strange”. To read a synopsis click here. I’m actually quite looking forward to it and hoping to gain a few new bits of info to store away in my noggin…but truth be told we shouldn’t just exercise our noggins but our bodies as well which leads me to Weight Watchers.
Weight Watchers

Leanne and I have been discussing making some serious life changes and setting good goals for ourselves. So this week I start Weight Watchers. I kind of would like to live a long productive life so I’m not so much into the continual self sabotage that we Americans do to ourselves. I can’t do it alone…the Big guy upstairs is going to have to help me…of course you can too. I open myself up to you my friends…you have permission to ask me how’s it going…heck you can even ask me how many points I have used in the day.
Moving forward…
This week will be interesting, but I have no doubt it will be great…it’s the continual process of moving forward…I don’t do so well being stagnant so I trust God to continue to lead me on.
Until next time…

Best Live Performances - Michael Jackson, U2, Beyonce, Green Day, Coldplay, and a few others.
May 21, 2008 · 1 Comment
OK! So, I haven’t done a serious post in a long time…it’s not because I don’t want to, it’s more because my thoughts are not organized enough with all that has happened. I am currently working on a post entitled thoughts on authenticity but until that time I have this one. Today at lunch we were discussing great live performances so below you will find some of my favorites. I chose on originality, creativity, and sheer enjoyment. You don’t have to agree with me…but I bet you will. Feel free to add your own.
In no particular order here are my favorites…
Michael Jackson - Billy Jean - It’s not the original but still, no description needed!
U2 and Green Day - The Saints are Coming - Sentimental for me, but also incredible.
NYSYNC - BYE BYE BYE - Don’t mock me! I apologize for the beginning of the video but if you wade through it and watch the BYE BYE BYE portion you will understand why I think it is one of the best…I hope. It’s just the middle part.
Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Castello, Dave Grohl, and Steve Van Zandt - The Clash Tribute - If you don’t know who The Clash are…then know that I am sad for you.
Guns N Roses and Elton John - November Rain - When of the best/odd combinations in a live performance…ever.
Beyonce - Ring the Alarm - Say what you want, this performance is sick…specifically beginning at 2:29
Coldplay - The Scientist - Granted this is one of my favorite songs, but the simplicity of this performance is beautiful.
U2 - Super Bowl - Sure U2 is on here twice…there’s a reason…they rock! And this performance is not only frickin awesome but it’s also moving…in fact if you don’t get chills…check your pulse.

There is hope for Lost fans…
January 25, 2008 · 2 Comments
…and also for all fans of television and movies.

As of this morning two studios have cut deals with the writers. What does this mean exactly…well, first off it pressures writers and producers (even more so then when the directors signed a deal) to resolve this quickly. Secondly, it really begins a domino effect. Third, all of the crappy reality TV (ie moment of truth) will no longer be the only thing to watch. Fourth, and most importantly if ABC/Disney signs a deal within the next two weeks (which is now highly possible) us Lost fans will have our full season.
Let hope and rejoicing fill the air!

Cloverfield and Heroes
November 21, 2007 · No Comments
OK, so below you will find the new trailer that is out for the upcoming J.J. Abrams picture “Cloverfield”. I would also recommend downloading the HD version at apple. In a note of marketing genius and possible cross over story telling it seems that Slusho (a make believe company that has direct ties in Cloverfield) is cross pollenating with the TV show Heroes. Now, no one really seems to know what the connection is but Greg Beeman (director/producer of Heroes) said this…
“Now, the next group of photos falls into the “don’t ask/don’t tell” category. I credit Greg Yaitanes for staging all these pix, under the supervision of Joe Pokaski. Their cultural significance will become clear in the coming months, so… pay attention!”
For those who are suckers like me go ahead and check out Beeman’s Blog to view said pictures. Enjoy the trailer, mark your calendars, and plan on going opening weekend with me.

I have to give a shout out to a friend of mine. He and a few of his partners in crime have officially launched their website, Hollywood Press TV. If you like movies and you like to laugh you have to check it out. They do a whole bunch of wacky things on the red carpet and have some stinkin hilarious interviews. So help a brother out and go check out their site…and then save it to your favorites…you know you want to.
Laughing a whole bunch
