I am currently in Maryland, and outside my window I watch as fireflies dance in mid air. I remember the first time I saw fireflies was on Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland - of course those were just small lights attached to wires in a darkened space. But these fireflies are real - excitedly flying through the thick humid air of a summers evening.
I can remember as a kid being fascinated with these little lightning bugs, always wishing I could see a real one. Here tonight I see hundreds filling my vision with a symphony of random fireworks.
Why am I so amazed at such a small creature? I don’t know really. Maybe I am just captivated at Gods wonder in something so small and complex. Maybe it goes back to my childhood - always wondering what it would be like to catch one of these creative bugs. I don’t know. Maybe I’m just a little jealous of them soaring to and fro enjoying the freedom that God has created for them.
I feel like we have aged many years these past 4 months as we have gone through so many ups and downs. But good as always comes from difficulty - the thirst and wonder we once had is returning and above all else we are dreaming again and let me tell you it is so good to dream again.
I am finding that freedom once again to fly to and fro with only trust in God and dreams to guide me. As night falls and the fireflies conclude their symphony I know that tomorrow evening they will be back reminding me to fly free- uninhibited - unashamed…in the freedom and creativity that God has given me.
Until Next time…and Dreaming Big…

Last month Leanne and I celebrated our two year anniversary, and with the help of some very generous friends we were able to go to San Francisco. It was wonderful…and even though it took me forever to do something with our pictures below you will find a little slide show of some our favorites.

Well, this morning I took Leanne and Bella to the airport. They are now in Baltimore until next Tuesday. Although, I am uber busy with Serve Day and other activities I must admit…I’m lonely. I have never been away from them both this long…it’s kind of unnerving…and its just the first night…Thankfully I have the new Harry Potter to keep me occupied at night.

This sounds amazing…Let’s see if they can actually pull it off.

Las Vegas NV - (Taken from First Tracks) “A group of former Disney and Universal Studios executives, designers, architects and engineers have teamed up to propose a new destination resort in Las Vegas featuring an indoor ski dome as well as North America’s largest indoor water park, two hotels, a casino, an events arena, and retail and dining options.”

“The snow dome for indoor skiing and snow play and Swiss-chalet themed hotel are planned to encompass 40 acres of the proposed Las Vegas Wet project. The waterpark itself will consume roughly 30 acres, with 250,000 square feet of that indoors, allowing the park to operate 365 days a year. The proposed attractions and entertainment components alone will exceed the size of Disneyland.”
“Think of it, you can throw on ski gear and practice your downhill technique on real,…OK, man made snow, then change clothes and surf at the waterpark, all in the same day at the same place,” said Dooner.”

So Thursday was my birthday. Don’t feel bad if you didn’t know, I am not exactly a huge fan of birthdays. This year Leanne decided she was going to take me away for a few days as a gift. So off to San Diego we went. Thursday night we hung out downtown sampling food throughout the Gaslamp Quarter, and on Friday we went to see Shamu…which is where my story takes place.
Leanne and I just sat down on the ride “Journey to Atlantis” and as we get ready to go the ride operator says, “sorry folks we are having some technical difficulties”…so we wait…5 minutes… then ten. Finally the ride operator says “sorry” again and that we are going to have to exit the ride so they can have empty cars run through the ride to make sure everything is ok. Leanne and I and the 5 other people in our boat get off the ride and stand by the exit waiting for our turn to ride…that is when and employee noticed two ducklings under the track.
Now we are at Sea World…you know eco-friendly lets take care of animals type place…so they tell us they can’t restart the ride until the get the ducks into a safe place. As the two little girls from our boat are watching the two little duckies dart back and forth we notice three more ducklings sitting on a rock in the water…and that is when the horror began.
The mother duck found her three other ducklings and they began to swim to a different part of the man made lake…the problem was is that they were swimming right for one of the water intakes for the ride…which basically causes a whirlpool. As we watch the ducks nearing this funnel of death an employee tells the parents of the two little girls that they probably don’t want their kids to see what is about to happen. The parents turn the girls away…much to the girls chagrin of course…and as the employee begins to talk about how there is no way those ducks will make it, “they never do” we see them begin to get stuck in the current…and all I can do is yell…swim little ducky…swim!
I couldn’t watch but at the same time I couldn’t turn away…They fought, and they kicked, and they swam their hardest and just as the began to get pulled in they broke free of the current and swam away following mom to safety.
Whew!
After returning the other two ducks to the family all of us cheered, the ducks lived! Of course my elation was cut short when the employee said, “there will probably be only one by the end of the week…seagulls like to sweep in and swallow the ducklings whole.”
As I looked at the guy with disgust…I was saddened….but then the ride opened again…and as we splashed down at the end of the ride..I saw those ducklings one last time…I don’t know what will happen to those ducks, but on that day I was sure glad they swam their hardest….because that would have totally ruined my birthday if they got sucked into a whirlpool.
That’s my story. Until next time….
