  1. That’s a tough question… Comedies (much like horror) rely on the unexpected, so after watching the same funny comedy multiple the funny seems to wear off because you know it. So I judge my funniest movies as being ones I can remember or enjoy quoting back the lines as I watch them (annoying to others I’m sure)

The Great Outdoors is high up on my list. A few others off the top of my head: Christmas Vacation, Uncle Buck (man I miss John Candy) Office Space / Idiocracy, Borat, Tommy Boy, Half Baked, Spaceballs, Planes Trains & Automobiles, Blazing Saddles, The Jerk, Three Amigos…

Wow I’m making a long list, I guess it can boils down further to funny actors / writers and the films they’ve been in.

  2. Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Second place goes to Office Space.

Just an example for the uninitiated:

Dennis: Listen, strange women lyin’ in ponds distributin’ swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony.

Oh, but you can’t expect to wield supreme executive power just because some watery tart threw a sword at you.

If I went ’round sayin’ I was Emperor, just because some moistened bint lobbed a scimitar at me, they’d put me away.

Come and see the violence inherent in the system. Help! Help! I’m being repressed!

    Arthur: Bloody peasant!

Dennis: Oh, what a giveaway! Did you hear that? Did you hear that, eh? That’s what I’m on about! Did you see him repressing me? You saw him, Didn’t you?
